Pride Nighttime Parade & Daytime Festival

Pride Parade & Festival

2009 Pride Parade & Festival

Join fellow UU’s from the Greater Houston area as we celebrate during the day and march down lower Westheimer at night in solidarity with the GLBT community!
Our Festival booth and Parade entry is sponsored by the Houston UU Network, and is supported by generous donations from UU churches and individual UU's.
Thank you!

Help!

  • We still need volunteers to staff the UU Booth in the Pride Festival, Saturday, June 27, 11 AM to 7 pm. All it takes is being there for some period of time (even just an hour or two), hanging out at a *covered* booth in a chair at a table covered with paper goods for handing to interested passers-by.

It's a breeze. It's also a very celebratory atmosphere -- if you've never been, you really should try it. Also, for those who feel the Parade is a bit too raucous for their tastes, the Festival provides a family-friendlier and more laid back way of participating in Pride.
  • We also need UU brochures & pamphlets to hand out to passers-by at the Festival.

    Parade Route and Map

    • Although the official parade route begins at the intersection of Westheimer and Dunlavy (point "A" in the map), we actually enter Westheimer at the intersection of Westheimer and Hazard St.
    • The route we'll follow is marked by the blue line. The route's about a mile long.
    • The parade ends at the intersection of Westheimer and Crocker St. (marked by the red "X").

    Parking

    • After the parade ends, we will undoubtedly need to ferry some of our fellow UU marchers back to their cars parked near the parade Assembly Area.
    • If you can, please consider parking near the end of the parade so that you can give fellow UU marchers a ride back to their cars. (The Pride Festival, held during the daytime, will take place along Westheimer....)
    • You may park at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home -- after 6:00 pm -- at 1734 W. Alabama St (near the intersection of W. Alabama and Dunlavy). See the green "P" on the map.
    • Otherwise, consider parking just south of W. Alabama St. -- there is usually plenty of parking available in that area.
