Pride Festival & Parade is coming up on Saturday, June 22nd!

The Festival is from Noon – 7pm which will have booths, food, drinks, fun, bands, & activities for the kids. It is located at Hermann Square. Admission is free! For more info: https://pridehouston.org/celebration/

The Parade starts at 8 pm, be at the lineup no later than 7:00 pm.

Wear your walking shoes, as we will parade through downtown. We have a trailer with benches for those with mobility issues, but it may require some walking to get to our place in the lineup. You may also want to bring food & drinks or you can buy them at the festival. We will have cold water on hand and a canopy to get out of the sun.

The parade lineup will be on Allen Parkway just west of I-45. Once we find our place, we will send out an email where the closest drop off point will be for those using Uber/Lyft or carpooling to the parade lineup, so please make sure that we have your email address. We should have the truck and trailer in place in the lineup by 4:30 pm for decorating and congregating. However, we have been moved before after being assigned a place, so beware – things can change. Also, be careful parking, as towing is enforced throughout the city.

Options for parking:
1. Carpool drivers can drop off folks at the parade lineup or festival then drive to the end of the parade route and park near Milam and Pease. Parking at the end of the parade route will allow your group to depart at the end of the parade. However, parking maybe limited or require the use of a public garage which is not free. A good pickup point for your riders is at Milam and Pierce, near I-45 (See the Parade Route map under the “G”oogle at the bottom of the map).

2. Utilize Metro. The metro rail is $1.25 per trip and free for folks 70 and older, with discounts to seniors and military. You can take the rail to the festival; however it is a distance to get to the line-up on Allen Pkwy. There is a Red Line station in the Museum District, but you must switch to the Green Capitol line to exit at the theater district station. The rail is great for returning from the end of the parade, you can pick up the Red Line south at the Downtown Transit Center, which is a few blocks from the end of the parade route and it will take you back to the Museum District, if that is where you parked. See the transit map or more info can be found at: https://www.ridemetro.org/Pages/Rail.aspx

3. Folks can come and park at or near First Church in the Museum District at Fannin and Southmore. There is parking on the street and with the businesses all around the church. We will try to help people form or join carpools at the church via Lyft, so please allow extra time for this and you must be at the church before 6:30.
