In her memoir, When I Spoke in Tongues (Beacon Press, 2018), author Jessica Wilbanks looks back at her childhood in a conservative Pentecostal church and traces her journey out of that faith tradition. Along the way, she sheds light on the reasons for the deep political divisions plaguing our country, and why it’s more important than ever to engage across lines of difference and seek the humanity in those with whom we fundamentally disagree.
